The Less You Know, The More Money You Make

The Less You Know, The More You Make

“Salary Theorem” states that “Engineers and Scientists can never earn as much as Business Executives and Sales People.”

This theorem can now be supported by a mathematical equation based on the following two postulates:

1. Knowledge is Power.
2. Time is Money.

As every engineer knows:
Power = Work / Time

Since:
Knowledge = Power
Time = Money

It follows that:
Knowledge = Work/Money.

Solving for Money, we get:
Money = Work / Knowledge.

Thus, as Knowledge approaches zero, Money approaches infinity, regardless of the amount of work done.

Conclusion:
The less you know, the more you make.

Slow Dance: A Poem Written By A Teenager With Cancer

Slow Dance

This
Is a poem
Written by a teenager with cancer.

She wants to
See how many
People get her poem.

It is quite the poem

Please pass it on.

This

Poem was written by a terminally ill young girl in a
New York

Hospital.

It was sent
By

A medical doctor -
Make sure to read what is in the closing statement
AFTER THE
POEM.

SLOW DANCE

Have you ever
Watched
Kids

On a merry-go-round?

Or listened to
The
Rain

Slapping on the ground?

Ever followed a

Butterfly’s’ erratic flight?

Or gazed at the sun into the
Fading
Night?

You better slow down.

Don’t
Dance so
Fast.

Time is short.

The music
Won’t
Last.

Do you run through each day

On
The
Fly?

When you ask How are you?

Do you hear
The
Reply?

When the day is done

Do you lie
In your
Bed

With the next hundred chores

Running through
Your head?

You’d better
Slow down

Don’t dance so
Fast.

Time is
Short.

The music won’t
Last.

Ever told your
Child,

We’ll do it
Tomorrow?

And in your
Haste,

Not see
His

Sorrow?

Ever lost
Touch,

Let a good
Friendship die

Cause you
Never had time

To call
And say,’Hi’

You’d
Better slow down.

Don’t dance
So fast.

Time
Is short.

The music won’t
Last..

When you run
So fast to get somewhere

You
Miss half the fun of getting
There.

When you worry and hurry
Through your
Day,

It is like an unopened
Gift….

Thrown
Away.

Life is not a
Race.

Do take it
Slower

Hear the
Music

Before the song is
Over.

World Full Of Sons And Daughters Like You And Me

Some email forwards are spam. Some emails are official. Some others are use for a laugh. Other emails are for gossip and chats. But emails like this one are to be read, reread and chewed and sucked into our conscience.

Treasure your mum !

The world is full of sons and daughters like you and me

I had a marvelous mother, who loved me,
Sacrificed for me and helped me in every way possible.

In all of my growing up from childhood through
School and eventually marriage,
My mother was always at my side.

And when I needed help with my little ones,
She was there for me.
A few years ago, we buried this wonderful woman.
Can you imagine how I felt when I returned home and
Found poem in her drawer written by my mom.

The time is now

If you are ever going to love
Love me now while I can know
The sweet and tender feelings
Which from true affection flow

Love me now while I am living
Do not wait until I am gone
And then have it chiselled in marble
Sweet words on ice-cold stone

If you have tender thoughts of me
Please let me know now
If you wait until I am sleeping
There will be death between us
And I will not hear you then

So if you love me, even a little bit
Let me know while I am living
So that I can treasure it

Now she is gone and I am sick with guilt
Because I never told her what she meant to me.

Worse yet, I did not treat her as she deserved to be treated.

I found time for everyone and everything else
But I never made time for her.

It would have been easy to drop in for a cup of tea
And a hug but my friends came first.

Would any of them have done for me what my mother did,
I know the answer.

When I called mom on the phone,
I was always in a hurry.

I feel ashamed when I think of the times I cut her off , The times I retorted back to her , The times I glared at her in a angry mood when she wanted to correct me and guide me through the correct path. I remember too, the times I could have included her in a trip out and did not.

Our children loved Grandma from the times they were babies.
They often turn to her for comfort and advice.
She understood them.
I realise now that I was too critical,
Too short-tempered, too stingy with praise.
Grandma gave them unconditional love.
The world is filled with sons, daughters and a child like me.
I hope they see themselves in this letter and realise from it.

If this has touched you, please pass it on to all the sons and
Daughters who have to praise their mom for everything they are today.

I Cried (A Very Sad Emotional Email Forward With A Sad Story)

This is a very emotional and interesting email forward received by interestingemailforwards.com

I was walking around in a Target store, when I saw the lady in the cashier hand this little boy some money back.

The boy couldn’t have been more than 8 or 9 years old.

The Cashier said, ‘I’m sorry, but you don’t have enough money to buy this doll.’

Then the little boy turned to the old woman next to him: ”Nanny,
are you sure I don’t have enough money?”

The old lady replied: ”You know that you don’t have enough money to buy this doll, my dear.”

Then she asked him to stay there for just 5 minutes while she went to look around for a cheaper one. She left quickly

The little boy was still holding the doll in his hand.

Finally, I walked toward him and I asked him who he wished to give this doll to

‘It’s the doll that my sister loved most and wanted so much for Christmas.

She was sure that Santa Claus would bring it to her.’

I replied to him that maybe Santa Claus would bring it to her after all, and not to worry.

But he replied to me sadly. ‘No, Santa Claus can’t bring it to her where she is now. I have to give the doll to my mummy so that she can give it to my sister when she goes there.’

His eyes were so sad while saying this. ‘My Sister has gone to be with God. Daddy says that Mummy is going to see God very soon too, so I thought that she could take the doll with her to give it to my sister .”

My heart nearly stopped.

The little boy looked up at me and said: ‘I told daddy to tell mummy not to go yet. I need her to wait until I come back from the shops.’

Then he showed me a very nice photo of himself. He was laughing. He then told me ‘I want mummy to take my picture with her so she won’t forget me.’

‘I love my mummy and I wish she didn’t have to leave me, but daddy says that she has to go to be with my little sister.’

Then he looked again at the doll with sad eyes, very quietly.

I quickly reached for my wallet and said to the boy. ‘Suppose we check again, just in case you do have enough money for the doll!”

‘OK’ he said, ‘I hope I do have enough.’ I added some of my money to his without him seeing and we started to count it. There was enough for the doll and even some spare money.

The little boy said: ‘Thank you God for giving me enough money!’

Then he looked at me and added, ‘I asked last night before I went to sleep for God to make sure I had enough money to buy this doll, so that mummy could give it to my sister . He heard me!”

‘I also wanted to have enough money to buy a white rose for my mummy, but I didn’t dare to ask God for too much.. But He gave me enough to buy the doll and a white rose.”

‘My mummy loves white roses.’

As I saw the old lady returning, I left with my basket as to not cause a scene.

I finished my shopping in a totally different state of mind from when I started.

I couldn’t get the little boy out of my mind.
Then I remembered a local news paper article two days ago, which mentioned a drunk man in a truck, who hit a car occupied by a young
woman and a little girl.
The little girl died right away, and the mother was left in a critical state. The family had to decide whether to remove the life-sustaining machine, because the young woman would not be able to recover from the coma.

Was this the family of the little boy?

Two days after this encounter with the little boy, I read in the news paper that the young woman had passed away.

I couldn’t stop myself as I bought a bunch of white roses and I went to the funeral home where the body of the young woman was for people to see and make last wishes before her burial.

She was there, in her coffin, holding a beautiful white rose in her hand with the photo of the little boy and the doll placed over her chest.

I left the place, teary-eyed, feeling that my life had been changed for ever.. The love that the little boy had for his mother and his sister is still, to this day, hard to imagine.

And in a fraction of a second, a drunk driver had taken all this away from him.

Don’t drink and drive………

Now you have 2 choices:

1) Send this message to others,

or

2) Ignore it as if it never touched your heart.

For those who prefer to think that God is not watching over us…. go ahead and delete this. For the rest of us…. pass this on….Tis your call!

The value of a man or woman resides in what he or she gives, not in what they are capable of receiving ….you will have an even better day after you pass this email forward on…

Never Give Up: How Bill Gates Selected Chairman For Microsoft Europe

Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates organised an enormous session to recruit a new Chairman for Microsoft Europe. 5000 candidates assembled in a large room. One candidate was Sompala Pathirana a Sinhalese living in USA.

Bill Gates thanked all the candidates for coming and asking those who do not know JAVA programming to leave. 2000 people left the room. Soma says to himself, ‘I do not know JAVA but I have nothing to lose if I stay. I’ll give it a try’ Bill Gates asked the candidates who never had experience of managing more than 100 people to leave. 2000 people leave the room..

Soma says to himself ‘ I never managed anybody by myself but I have nothing to lose if I stay. What can happen to me?’ So he stays.

Then Bill Gates asked candidates who do not have management diplomas to leave. 500 people leave the room.

Soma says to himself, ‘I left school at 15 but what have I got to lose?’ So he stays in the room.

Lastly, Bill Gates asked the candidates who do not speak Serbo – Croat to leave. 498 people leave the room. Soma says to himself, ‘ I do not speak one word of Serbo – Croat but what do I have to lose?’ So he stays and finds himself with one other candidate. Everyone else has gone.Bill Gates joined them and said ‘Apparently you are the only two
candidates who have all the required qualifications & experience I am looking for and
speak Serbo – Croat, so I’d now like to hear you have a conversation together
in that language.’

and……

Calmly, Soma turns to the other candidate and says in Sinhalese ` Kohomada Machang? (translate: “How Are you buddy?”)

The other candidate answers in Sinhalese ‘ Ammata Hudu……….umbath Lankavenda?? (“my God, are you also from Sri Lanka?”)

45 Facts About Life Written By Pulitzer Prize Finalist Regina Brett

I got this inspiring email forward and thought to be one of the 7% and share it here with you. I loved this… hope you enjoy it too.

7% ….. This is something we should all read at least once a week!

ohio columnist Regina brett

Ohio columnist & author Miss Regina Brett

Written By Regina Brett, of The Plain Dealer, Cleveland , Ohio

“To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me. It is the most-requested column I’ve ever written.”

My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:

1. Life isn’t fair, but it’s still good.

2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.

3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.

4. Your job won’t take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.

5. Pay off your credit cards every month.

6. You don’t have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

7. Cry with someone. It’s more healing than crying alone.

8. It’s OK to get angry with God. He can take it.

9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.

10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.

11. Make peace with your past so it won’t screw up the present.

12. It’s OK to let your children see you cry.

13. Don’t compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn’t be in it.

15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don’t worry; God never blinks.

16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.

17. Get rid of anything that isn’t useful, beautiful or joyful.

18. Whatever doesn’t kill you really does make you stronger.

19. It’s never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.

20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don’t take no for an answer.

21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don’t save it for a special occasion. Today is special.

22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.

23. Be eccentric now. Don’t wait for old age to wear purple.

24. The most important sex organ is the brain.

25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.

26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words ‘In five years, will this matter?’

27. Always choose life.

28. Forgive everyone everything.

29. What other people think of you is none of your business.

30. Time heals almost everything. Give time time.

31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

32. Don’t take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

33. Believe in miracles.

34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn’t do.

35. Don’t audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.

36. Growing old beats the alternative — dying young.

37. Your children get only one childhood.

38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.

39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.

40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else’s,we’d grab ours back.

41. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.

42. The best is yet to come.

43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.

44. Yield.

45. Life isn’t tied with a bow, but it’s still a gift.”

Its estimated 93% won’t forward this. If you are one of the 7% who will, email forward this with the title ’7%’.

I’m in the 7%.

Remember that I will always share my spoon with you!

Friends are the family that we choose for ourselves.

8 Regular Health Mistakes That Damage Your Body In The Long Run

Regular Health Mistakes

All of us make little health mistakes that cause damage to our bodies in the long run – simply because we are unaware we are doing something wrong. Here are some of the most common mistakes made by many of us.

1. Crossing our legs
man sitting cross leggedDo you cross your legs at your knees when sitting? Although we may believe that this is the lady-like elegant way to sit, sitting this way cuts down circulation to your legs. If you don’t want varicose veins to mar the beauty of your legs and compromise your health, uncross your legs every time you realize you have one knee on top of the other. The best way to sit is to simply place both legs together on the floor, balancing your weight equally. If you feel like changing position, instead of crossing your legs, simply move both legs together to one side. As an alternative, you could also consider crossing your legs loosely at the ankles. This is a classically elegant way to sit, and is far better for your legs and your health than sitting with your legs crossed at your knees.

2. Not changing our toothbrush

new health toothbrush stylesHow often do you change your toothbrush? Most of us wait until most of the bristles have either fallen off, or are in such bad shape that we’d be embarrassed to pull out our brush in public. However, since not many of us need to pull out our brush in public, we carry on with our frayed one until we lose it. Replace your toothbrush often. Damaged bristles can harm the enamel, and don’t massage your gums well. If you find brushing your teeth a pain like I do, but know you must do it, you might as well be doing it right. Imagine going through the annoyance of brushing your teeth twice a day only to find out that you’re damaging your enamel every time you clean your teeth. Also, use a brush with soft bristles unless your dentist has advised otherwise.

3. Eating out often

fast food mealThere are oils that are high in cholesterol, and oils that cause little harm and are better for your heart. However, no matter how light the oil is, it is never a good idea to eat too much of it. Avoid fried foods.Remember that in all probability your favorite Indian food restaurant throws a huge, HUGE chunk of butter in a tiny bowl of dal. Rita, who worked in the kitchen of a 5 star hotel, was shocked when she saw the cook chop a 500gm butter slab in half, and throw half into a Paneer Makhani dish. No wonder the customers left licking their fingers. And no wonder they felt so stuffed and heavy afterwards. Limit outdoor eating unless you know that you’re getting served light and healthy food.

4. Skipping breakfast

indian Idly sambar vadaNever, ever skip breakfast. Remember, when you wake up in the morning it’s been around 10-12 hours since your last meal. Your body needs food now, more than at any other time. Eat a heavy breakfast. You will then be busy through the day, and the calories will get expended quickly. If you are trying to diet, eat a light dinner. Here are some more common health mistakes we make. Being informed and making a few changes can help make us feel a whole lot better.

5. High heels
pink high heels girl High heels sure look great, but they’re murder for your back. This however doesn’t mean you should steer clear of stilettos. Wear them, but not when you know you will be walking around a lot. Wear them when going out for lunch or dinner – when the only walking you will be doing is to your car, to the table, and back. Avoid high heels when you are going somewhere on foot. If you are constantly tempted to wear your heels, take a good look at your flats. Is there something about them you dislike? Invest in a new pair of beautiful flats or shoes with a low heel. Buy something you love, that you will enjoy wearing. If possible, get a matching bag. You will then enjoy your flats as much as you do your heels.

6. Sleeping on a soft bed
soft bed sleeping You don’t have to sleep on the floor be kind to your back, but do make sure you have a firm mattress. Although a mattress on springs is soft and lovely to sink into, it’s bad for your back. If you already have an old bed with springs, you don’t need to invest in a new one – simply get a thick wooden plank put over the springs, and place the mattress on the plank. Similarly, if your mattress is old and lumpy, throw it out and get a new one. Your neck and your back will thank you. The same rule applies to sofas. If you will be spending hours on a sofa, get a firm yet comfortable one. Sofas you completely sink into are not the best idea.

7. Pillows
comfortable soft pillows No matter how comfortable sleeping with ten cushions is, have pity on your neck and resist. Sleep with one pillow, and make sure it is not too thick. If your pillow gets lumpy, discard it and go for a new one. Get a thin pillow if you sleep on your stomach, and something a little thicker if you sleep on your back, to give your neck adequate support.

8. Not exercising

elliptical training machineSo all of us know we should exercise more, but many of us don’t. This is a health mistake we consciously make! And why is that? Simply because we refuse to admit the damage we are causing to our bodies by not working out. A number of people only start working out once they’ve experienced a warning signal. Don’t wait for a heart attack to strike before you decide to opt for a lifestyle change. Make the change now. You don’t need to train for the marathon to be in top shape. Half an hour of brisk walking three to four times a week will make a world of difference to your health. You could then increase this to forty minutes, four times a week – and you’re all set. If you haven’t exercised for a week, you’re making a mistake..

Today’s Message of the Day is:

Life is short. Break the rules. Forgive quickly. Kiss slowly. Love truly. Laugh uncontrollably, and never regret anything that made you smile. Forward this email and share this message with family and friends.

10 Reasons to Throw Out Your Microwave Oven

used microwave ovens

1. Continually eating food processed from a microwave oven causes long term – permanent — brain damage by “shorting out” electrical impulses in the brain [de-polarizing or demagnetizing the brain tissue].

2. The human body cannot metabolize, break down, the unknown by-products created in microwaved food.

3. Male and female hormone production is shut down and/or altered by continually eating microwaved foods.

4. The effects of microwaved food byproducts are residual (long term, permanent) within the human body.

5. Minerals, vitamins, and nutrients of all microwaved food are reduced or altered so that the human body gets little or no benefit, or the body absorbs altered compounds that cannot be broken down.

6. The minerals in vegetables are altered into cancerous free radicals when cooked in microwave ovens.

7. Microwaved foods cause stomach and intestinal cancerous growths [tumors]. This may explain the rapidly increasing rate of colon cancer in America.

8. The prolonged eating of microwaved foods causes cancerous cells to increase in human blood.

9. Continual ingestion of microwaved food causes immune system deficiencies through lymph gland and blood serum alterations.

10. Eating microwaved food causes loss of memory, concentration, emotional instability, and a decrease of intelligence

Leader Should Know How To Manage Failure – Former Indian President APJ Abdul Kalam

president apj Abdul kalam

Former Indian President & top nuclear scientist Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam

A LEADER SHOULD KNOW HOW TO MANAGE FAILURE

(Former President of India APJ Abdul Kalam at Wharton India Economic forum ,
Philadelphia , March 22,2008 )

Question: Could you give an example, from your own experience, of how leaders
should manage failure?

Kalam: Let me tell you about my experience. In 1973 I became the project director of India ‘s satellite launch vehicle program, commonly called the SLV-3. Our goal was to put India ‘s ‘Rohini’ satellite into orbit by 1980. I was given funds and human resources — but was told clearly that by 1980 we had to launch the satellite into space. Thousands of people worked together in scientific and technical teams towards that goal.

By 1979 — I think the month was August — we thought we were ready. As the project director, I went to the control center for the launch. At four minutes before the satellite launch, the computer began to go through the checklist of items that needed to be checked. One minute later, the computer program put the launch on hold; the display showed that some control components were not in order. My experts — I had four or five of them with me — told me not to worry; they had done their calculations and there was enough reserve fuel. So I bypassed the computer, switched to manual mode, and launched the rocket. In the first stage, everything worked fine. In the second stage, a problem developed. Instead of the satellite going into orbit, the whole rocket system plunged into the Bay of Bengal . It was a big failure.

That day, the chairman of the Indian Space Research Organization, Prof. Satish Dhawan, had called a press conference. The launch was at 7:00 am , and the press conference — where journalists from around the world were present — was at 7:45 am at ISRO’s satellite launch range in Sriharikota [in Andhra Pradesh in southern India ]. Prof. Dhawan, the leader of the organization, conducted the press conference himself. He took responsibility for the failure — he said that the team had worked very hard, but that it needed more technological support. He assured the media that in another year, the team would definitely succeed.. Now, I was the project director, and it was my failure, but instead, he took responsibility for the failure as chairman of the organization.

The next year, in July 1980, we tried again to launch the satellite — and this time we succeeded. The whole nation was jubilant. Again, there was a press conference. Prof. Dhawan called me aside and told me, ‘You conduct the press conference today.’

I learned a very important lesson that day. When failure occurred, the leader of the organization owned that failure. When success came, he gave it to his team. The best management lesson I have learned did not come to me from reading a book; it came from that experience.

Wise Saying About The Power of Silence

There is no doubt about the power of words of a man and its influence on his audience.

However, a man must know that some times, “Silence” is more powerful than words and the impact it causes among the audience is more effective than words.

The power of a “pause” and “total silence” would be deafening than 1000 words spoken with arrogance, anger, and boastful nature. “Silence” is dignified than a vulgar display of words to be “seen” and “heard”. The silence of the dignified is always respected and it puts them on a higher pedestal, way above the foolish who show off by endless talk.

“ The right word may be effective, but no word was ever as effective as a rightly timed pause”- Mark Twain

“Silence is more eloquent than words”- Thomas Carlyle

“Silence is a fence around wisdom”- German Proverb

“Silence is one of the greatest arts of conversation”- Cicero
